About MGHF
It is the mission of the Mason General Hospital Foundation to enhance the quality of healthcare enjoyed by residents of Mason County by providing financial support to Mason General Hospital, Oakland Bay Pediatrics, and North Mason Medical Clinic in Belfair.
The Mason General Hospital Foundation is a volunteer charitable organization
which raises, receives, manages, and distributes funds for financial support
to Public Hospital District No.1 which consists of Mason General Hospital
and Oakland Bay Pediatrics in Shelton and North Mason Medical Clinic in Belfair.
Mason General Hospital Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization.

Karen Hilburn Breast Cancer Fund
Special events such as the annual golf tournament and Fantasy Forest not only raise funds for MGHF, but build community support for Mason General Hospital through their participants and volunteers. Over $1,000,000 has been raised by Mason General Hospital Foundation to go toward the purchase of medical equipment. With these funds the Foundation has purchased items such as:

EKG Machine
Mammogram Machine
Defibrillator
Patient Monitor Machine
Total Care Patient Beds
As technology in healthcare improves and the population ages, the public places greater demands on hospitals. At the same time, insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, are paying less to hospitals making the need for support from organizations like the Foundation more and more important.
Ways of Giving
Donors supported Mason General Hospital Foundation through events such as Fantasy Forest, American Business Women’s Luncheon, and the Golf Tournament. These events are the Foundation’s most visible ways of raising funds, the Foundation also raised funds through participation in the following campaigns:
Annual Campaign: An annual gift provides funds for specific projects the Foundation is supporting and/or goes toward much needed medical equipment for Public Hospital District No.1. The Foundation board determines in collaboration with the PHD No.1 superintendent which piece of equipment is of most need and directs funding toward that need.
Memorial Gift: A memorial gift is given in memory of a friend or loved one. Memorial gifts go toward the purchase of much needed medical equipment. Donors can request that their gift be directed to a specific fund.
Karen Hilburn Breast Cancer Fund: A gift to the Karen Hilburn Breast Cancer Fund will go toward funding breast cancer treatment. The treatment of breast cancer is very expensive, therefore making it unattainable for some women. This much needed fund helps with the expenses of breast cancer treatment for those who have no other financial options.
Endowment Gift: An endowment gift is a gift investing in the future of MGHF. All endowment donations go into the Foundation’s endowment accounts. These accounts are monitored by the Foundation Endowment Committee in conjunction with local investment professionals. It is the goal of the Endowment Committee to achieve $1,000,000 in the endowment funds.
Other Ways Of Giving: There are many other ways of giving to help support PHD No.1, such as the gift of marketable securities, real estate, life insurance, tangible personal property, planned giving and bequests.
As the Foundation continues to grow, these fundraising opportunities will become more and more important to its success. Growth relies on a solid base of consistent donors as well as a healthy endowment and planned giving donations and bequests. The Foundation has made a goal of greater focus on these campaigns for the future.
